Cat Mince is a native Californian but with southern roots. Committing herself to being a lifelong learner, she is currently working on her doctorate in Diversity and Rural Education from her undergraduate alma mater, Southern Arkansas University. A 25-year veteran educator, Cat has taught in a variety of countries and settings, from a makeshift cabin in the highlands of Guatemala, to an urban school in Little Rock, Arkansas to a Middle School outside of Tokyo. After being awarded DODEA Teacher of the Year – Japan in 2017, she came to Bahrain to teach Secondary Social Studies at The Bahrain School. Cat strives to create a classroom environment of trust and teamwork in which her students feel welcome and safe and are encouraged to take educational risks. Using Cooperative Learning structures, her classroom is engaging and dynamic. Students are challenged and supported to ask questions, seek answers, and enjoy the learning process. When Cat is not busy with educational rock star activities, she is planning adventures with her 3 children whom are all currently in The United States attending University.
